Shortly after founding Koester Construction in 1985 Paul Koester negotiated a small, but intense, remodel project with Brian Cooney, owner of Cooney's Tavern. The project involved installing storage cabinets and lighting above the bar along with decorative woodwork and mirrors behind the bar. An important part of the negotiation was that the project was to start Saturday night after closing of the tavern and be completed in time to open on Monday afternoon.
Paul drew the plans and worked out details for woodwork, electrical and finishes with Brian. Cabinetry was pre-built and pre-finished prior to the designated Saturday and the demolition crew began work shortly after closing. Framers followed with support of the overhead cabinetry, electricians installed the lighting and finish carpenters were right behind installing the millwork. Painters touched up staining the woodwork and clean-up was completed Monday morning. Save for the smell of fresh varnish the tavern reopened as usual on Monday afternoon.
Koester Construction has since completed 5 additional projects for Cooney's and although Paul's personal involvement with subsequent projects was reduced, the company's commitment and ability to deliver fast track projects as promised has not changed. Team members have been added and projects have gotten larger but precise planning and teamwork with co-workers, owners, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers have been solidly established as key tenets of the company.
It is these same values that have earned Koester long-standing relations with restaurants such as Legends American Grill, McDonald's, Long John Silver's and Kentucky Fried Chicken. The Design-Build project delivery method coincides well with these same values and projects such as Bensen Buick, Global Aviation, Mueller-Yurgae & Associates, Iowa Dental Supply, White Oak Vineyards, Berkshire Dental speak to our ability to deliver what we promise on a larger scale.
Koester Construction: "People who love their work, like working together in a team-oriented environment, and who are committed to delivering what we promise."
